Jag har nu gjort klart en liten kappa till Poppy. Ja, liten och liten, det kanske inte är rätt ord. Jag har gjort den i storlek 6 – 12 månader, men det färdiga resultatet tyder snarare på 1 – 2 år. I alla fall på längden, bredden är nog tyvärr inte riktigt lika stor. En långkappa är det med andra ord. Men strunt samma, det gör inget om den aldrig går att använda, för jag är så in i bänken nöjd ändå! Låter väl lite sinnessvagt, men det är ärmisättningen som gör mej helt euforisk. Ok, jag har förmodligen uppfunnit hjulet en gång till, men det var första gången som jag verkligen fick till det perfekt.
Så här var det: Mönstret är gammalt och trist med isydda ärmar, och är det något jag skyr så är det just att sy i ärmar. Alltså har jag nästan jämt gjort med raglan och stickat runt eller plockat upp maskor runt ärmhålet och stickat rakt ut så det blivit en sån där nerhasad historia. Men nu har jag tänkt till – har faktiskt provat det en gång tidigare med något taffligare resultat – och denna gången lyckades det.
I have now finished a small coat for Poppy. Well, small it perhaps not the right word. I have done it in size 6 - 12 months, but the final results rather looks like 1 - 2 years. At least the length, the width is unfortunately not quite as large. A long-coat in other words. But all the same, it does not matter if it never will be able to use, I am so very happy with it anyway! Sounds a bit insane, but it is the Insertion of the sleeves that makes me completely euphoric. Ok, I have probably invented the wheel once again, but it was the first time I really managed to do it perfectly.
Here is the story: the pattern is old and dull with sewn in sleeves, and if it is something I really try to avoid it's just to sew in the sleeves. Because of that I have almost always made sweaters with raglan sleeves and knitted them in the round together with the body or picked up stitches around the armhole and knitted the sleeves straight out as it has become one of those droopy things. But now I have have been thinking - have actually tried it once before with not that fabulous result - and this time I got it!
Jag läste beskrivningen på ärmen, såg att det enligt den skulle vara 60 maskor där ärmen var som vidast, precis innan intagningen började.
Detta tog jag fasta på och plockade upp 60 maskor runt ärmhålet, med början högst upp vid axelsömmen (som jag naturligtvis inte sytt ihop utan stickat ihop med tre stickor!).
Därefter delade jag upp dessa maskor i tre delar, alltså 20 för toppen och 20 vardera för sidorna. Det innebar att eftersom jag befann mej mitt på toppdelen (axelsömmen där jag började upplockningen), stickade jag 10 maskor nerför sidan (hälften av den tredjedelen), vände och stickade tillbaka 20 maskor från avigan och vände igen. Nu var jag igång och stickade därefter en ny maska av de från början upplockade för varje varv och stickade fram och tillbaka tills alla maskorna var i arbete och jag kunde fortsätta att sticka runt. Lysande! Detta har säkert flertalet av världens stickande befolkning kommit på för länge sen, men skulle det vara någon som ännu inte provat på kan jag starkt rekommendera det.
I read the pattern and saw it should be 60 stitches as most, just before the decreases began.
I picked up those 60 stitches around the armhole, starting at the top at shoulder seam (which I obviously not had sewn together but used the three needle bind of!).
Then I split up the amount of stitches in three parts, 20 for the top part and 20 each for the sides. Because I began to pick up the stitches in the middle of the top part (the shoulder seam), I knitted 10 stitches down the side (half of that third part), turned and purled 20 stitches from the wrong side and turned. Now I was on the track and worked back and forth, adding one new stitch of the originally picked up ones at the end of each row and continued in that way until all the picked up stitches were in work and I could join in the round. Brilliant! This is probably something the majority of the world's knitting population occurred a long time ago, but if it would be someone who not has tried it yet, I can highly recommend it.
Jag är nu också igång med tigertröjan till Alex. Den är kanonkul men kommer säkert att bli dryg.
I am also on my way with the Tiger sweater for Alex. It is really fun to but will certainly be a very long lasting story.
Dessutom har jag påbörjat och kommit ungefär halvvägs på en liten poncho till Poppy. Tänkte att en sån kanske kan komma till användning, nu när kappan inte blev som förväntat. Garnet är Novitas Nalle, som jag fått från Annika i Finland. Så sorgligt att det inte går att få tag på här. På Rusta kan man köpa ett grövre av Novitas garner, men jag har inte lyckats hitta nåt annat ställe där deras garner säljs. Men kanske något känner till nåt ställe med lite bättre sortering?
I morgon ska jag gå bort till garnaffären och se om det kommit hem fler färger av Drops nya garn Cotton Light. Har tänkt prova det i en tröja till Tristan, fyra färger ton i ton som sammanbinds i ett vågmönster – om jag lyckas få idén att fungera i verkligheten. Det är inte någon självklarhet, det vet jag av bitter erfarenhet. Men det är underbart roligt så länge jag får tro att det ska fungera!
And just as well I started and am just about half way on a little poncho for Poppy. Thought that maybe it could be of some use, now when her coat not turned out as expected. The yarn is Novita Nalle, which I received from Annika in Finland. Sadly I can’t find it here. I know one place where you can buy one of Novita’s bulky yarns, but I have not been able to find any other place where their other yarns are sold. But perhaps someone knows any place?
Tomorrow I will go to the yarn store and see if they have got more colours of Drops new Cotton Light. I intend to try it at a sweater for Tristan, four colours linked in a wave pattern - if I manage to get the idea to work out in reality. It is not anything to rely on, I know it by bitter experience. But it is wonderfully funny as long as I can believe that it will work!
